Little House on the Prairie - Original Artwork on Sale

Laura Ingalls Wilder hugely influenced my childhood dreams of Big Sky.  I bought all her books for my girls, and it has been magical to watch each and every one of them fall in love with Laura and her family.  

Garth Williams wonderful illustrations brought these books and characters to life.  A collection of his original artwork was recently sold by Heritage Auctions.

Wendy McClure has written about how The Little House on the Prairie series also influenced her childhood in her upcoming book The Wilder Life.  

One of my favorite quotes from Little House on the Prairie -

“Wild animals would not stay in a country where there were so many people.  Pa did not like to stay, either.  He liked a country where the wild animals lived without being afraid.  He liked to see the little fawns and their mothers looking at him from the shadowy woods, and the fat, lazy bears eating berries in the wild-berry patches.  In the long winter evenings he talked to Ma about the Western country.”
